Threat Emails Cause Panic at St. Stephen’s College and Noida Schools, Campuses Evacuated

A bomb threat created havoc at St. Stephen’s College, Delhi and two schools in Noida on Friday. The authorities, without wasting any time, evacuated the campuses and called in bomb disposal and dog squads to make rigorous searches of the premises.

The colleges that were affected include Ahlcon International School in Mayur Vihar Phase 1, Shiv Nadar School in Noida and St. Stephen’s College. The schools without hesitation sent the messages to the parents informing them to keep their children at home. The students who were already on their way home were told to turn around and the campuses were closed for the safety checks.

The Delhi Police accepted the bomb threat at St. Stephen’s College by way of a statement: “Received a bomb threat email at 07:42 AM today at St. Stephen’s College. Our Bomb Disposal Team is at the spot.” This is a series of threats that happened just a day after a 15-year-old Class 9 student was arrested for sending false bomb threat emails to four Noida schools. A source said the student used a Virtual Private Network (VPN) to access the school network and avoid detection. He was arrested and produced before the Juvenile Court.

Similar threats were made to Step By Step, The Heritage School, Gyanshree and Mayoor School in Noida on this week. Once the emails were discovered, the school administrations informed the police and measures were taken quickly. At the moment, the authorities are still investigating the authenticity of the bomb threats that were made on Friday and whether they are related to the previous incidents. In the meantime, security measures in educational institutions have been increased to ensure the safety of the students.
