Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M announced plans to expedite ongoing infrastructure projects to give the city a facelift ahead of its 50th Foundation Day celebrations in 2026. Departments including horticulture, civil, and water works have been instructed to collaborate and ensure timely project completion.
Major projects being fast-tracked include the Bhangel and Chilla elevated roads, a golf course in Sector 151A, a skywalk between Sector 51 and 52 metro stations, the expansion of the DND Flyway loop, and new underpasses on the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway. The authority is also exploring recreational events with a knowledge partner to engage residents.
The Chilla elevated road project, covering 5.96 km, had stalled due to budget escalations, with only 13% of the work finished. It is now expected to be completed within two years at a revised cost of ₹787.31 crore. Meanwhile, the 420-meter skywalk connecting the Aqua and Blue Metro lines is 70% complete and set to be operational by December 2024.
The Bhangel elevated road, 84% complete, will open by January 2025. The golf course project, spanning 113.87 acres and costing ₹140.08 crore, is scheduled for completion by June 2025, with 64% of the work finished so far despite land acquisition delays.
Additionally, the authority’s new office in Sector 96, along the Noida-Greater Noida Expressway, is 73.5% complete and will be ready by January 2025. Two underpasses are also being developed to improve connectivity: one at the 16.9 km mark for ₹131 crore and another at 6.1 km costing ₹106 crore.
Lokesh M confirmed that a bus terminal in Sector 82, built for ₹157.9 crore, will be leased for commercial use, possibly as a hospital or hotel, while the ground floor will remain a terminal. “We aim to complete all projects on time to present a new look for the city before the 50th Foundation Day,” he said.
