Noida police arrested two wanted criminals after a dramatic gunfight on the Delhi–Saharanpur highway, bringing an end to a major manhunt. Noida authorities confirmed that the accused, Afsar and Shahzad, both carrying a bounty of ₹25,000 each, were apprehended with illegal weapons and a stolen motorcycle.
Noida officials said the duo was wanted in connection with a shooting and murder case reported from the Dabar Talab area. Acting on a tip-off, police teams tracked the suspects as they were travelling towards the Sabhapur underpass from the Garhi Kattaiya side. When signalled to stop, the accused attempted to flee, and Afsar allegedly opened fire at the police.
Noida police retaliated, during which Afsar sustained a bullet injury to his right leg. Both accused were overpowered and arrested at the spot. A stolen motorcycle, an illegal pistol, one spent cartridge, and a live round were seized during the operation.
Noida police further revealed that Afsar has nearly a dozen criminal cases registered against him across multiple states, mainly involving robbery and theft. Further investigation is underway to verify the full criminal background of both accused.
