Residents of a luxury apartment complex in Greater Noida West, Uttar Pradesh, were taken aback when their home was flooded due to a combination of heavy rain and a malfunctioning fire sprinkler. The incident occurred on Wednesday night during continuous rainfall. As rainwater seeped into the apartment, it triggered the fire sprinkler system, causing water to gush out and flood the entire unit.
A video from the Ace Platinum Society shows water spraying from the fire sprinkler inside the apartment, while water also drips from the air conditioning unit in the same room. The unexpected flooding turned what should have been a safety measure into a source of chaos for the residents.
The heavy rain that caused this incident also had severe consequences across the National Capital Region (NCR). On Wednesday, at least eight people lost their lives in Delhi, Noida, and Gurugram due to the relentless downpour. The heavy rainfall transformed roads into rivers, leading to massive traffic jams and leaving commuters stranded for hours.
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a red alert for the region, warning of continued rainfall in the coming hours. The downpour not only affected Greater Noida but also caused significant traffic disruptions in other parts of the NCR, including Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, Faridabad, and Lutyens’ Delhi. The widespread impact of the rain highlighted the challenges faced by residents and commuters alike during such extreme weather conditions.
