Amul Calls for Ice Cream Tub Return Following Centipede Report

Amul, a prominent dairy company, asked a woman customer in Noida to return the ice cream tub in which she said she had discovered a centipede on Monday and assured her that the matter would be thoroughly investigated.

The incident was made public after a Noida lady claimed to have discovered a centipede inside an Amul ice cream tub that she had bought using an app for quick delivery. Officials stated that on June 15, the woman, Deepa Devi, posted a photo of the bug in the tub on social media and urged food safety authorities to take appropriate action.

The dairy product distributor, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), expressed sorry for the customer’s inconvenience. It sells dairy goods under the Amul brand. Amul released a statement saying, “We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to her because of this incident.”

The business claimed to have gotten in touch with Devi and asked to examine the ice cream tub. “Unless the complaint pack is retrieved from the customer it would be difficult for us to investigate the matter and hence comment specifically on the issue which involves pack and supply chain integrity as well,” Amul stated.

Customers were reassured by Amul of the “superior quality” of their ice cream, and the company noted that its operations are automated and go through rigorous quality inspections. Devi was also asked by the corporation to tour a factory and observe the procedure in person.

Food safety investigators in Noida have taken up the investigation and gathered samples of Amul ice cream from the fast delivery company’s store, where Devi bought the tub, according to the officials. After receiving the ice cream tub from Devi, Amul promised to look into the problem properly and inform customers of its findings.
